As a massage and reiki therapist, i feel the need to comment.
Any liquid applied to the skin will no penetrate even the fist few layers. The natural state of the body is health and a therapist can only at best set up the body (and mind in this and many other cases) for optimum opportunity to heal.
The therapist here might be using other methods like energy balancing and the placebo effect could also be involved to get results. But for having waste material applied to water tight skin to repair torn ligaments is fantasy.
Mark Shepperson, commenting on the story that Robin Van Persie will be visiting an… alternative therapist to speed his recovery from injury. Yes, the skin cannot absorb anything as it is water-tight. That’s why ibuprofen gel is so useless. Reiki, on the oher hand, is bona fide.
